More Detailed Section Analytics
The library needed visitor numbers for individual sections, rather than a single total for the whole building.

Mohammed Bin Rashid Library already counted visitors at its main entrances, but it wanted to understand how people use each part of the building. Technowave planned and installed 20 additional FootfallCam devices across the library's key sections, giving the team a 360° view of visitor movement.
Mohammed Bin Rashid Library (MBRL) in Dubai is the largest cultural and knowledge hub in the region. A destination of this size serves many different audiences at once, from families and young readers to researchers, business visitors and people attending exhibitions.
MBRL had already installed FootfallCam people counting at its main entrances, and Technowave carried out that installation. The entrance counts gave a reliable picture of how many people entered the building and when, which is the starting point for any visitor analytics programme.
The next step was to look inside the building. Technowave, which has delivered Auto-ID and analytics solutions across the GCC and India since 1999, was asked to extend the existing system so the library could see how each section performs on its own.

The entrance system showed overall visitor flow. It could not show what happened after visitors walked in, which limited the decisions the library team could base on data.
The library needed visitor numbers for individual sections, rather than a single total for the whole building.
Specialised areas such as the Atlas & Map Library or the Media & Art Library needed their own accurate measure of how many visitors they attract.
Without section-level data, it is difficult to match staffing and resources to the areas where visitors actually spend their time.
Planning exhibitions and cultural programmes works best when the team can see how visitors respond to each space.
Technowave planned and implemented a comprehensive people counting system, placing 20 additional FootfallCam devices strategically across the library's key sections.
Devices were positioned across the library's key sections, so that each area can report its own visitor count.
Coverage includes the Temporary Exhibition, Business Library, Emirates Library, Youth Library, Atlas & Map Library, Media & Art Library, Information Library, Children's Library, Periodical Library and General Library.
The new devices extend the FootfallCam solution already counting visitors at the entrances, so coverage now continues beyond the doors.
With entrances and sections both measured, MBRL gets a complete picture of how visitors move through the building.
Technowave first installed FootfallCam people counting at MBRL's main entrances, giving the library a reliable total for overall visitor flow.
The library identified that it needed more detailed analytics for individual sections and a better way to measure engagement in specialised areas.
Technowave planned a comprehensive people counting system that would extend coverage to the key sections of the building.
Twenty additional FootfallCam devices were placed strategically across ten sections, from the Temporary Exhibition to the Children's Library.
With section-level counting in place, MBRL can now track who visits, where they go and how spaces are used.
Every covered section now has its own visitor count, replacing a single building-wide figure.
The team can see how visitors move between spaces, not only when they arrive.
Staffing and resource management can follow real visitor patterns in each area.
Exhibitions and cultural programmes can be planned with data on how visitors use the spaces.
Data-driven insights help the library improve the experience for the people who visit.
Totals at the door show how busy a venue is, but section-level counting shows how each space performs.
Adding devices to an existing people counting system builds on earlier work and gives a complete view of the venue.
Accurate counts per area help venues plan staffing and programmes around where visitors actually go.
By adding 20 FootfallCam devices to its entrance system, Mohammed Bin Rashid Library can now track who visits, where they go and how spaces are used. Technowave turned visitor counts into actionable insights that help shape the future of cultural engagement at the library. The same approach suits museums, exhibition halls, malls and other venues with several distinct zones.
Technowave plans and installs FootfallCam people counting for libraries, retail stores and public venues across the GCC and India.
