Description

Sensormatic Tag Deactivators

Overview

Sensormatic label deactivators and activators are key components in retail anti-theft systems. At the point of sale, deactivators disable active electronic article surveillance (EAS) labels on purchased items so they can pass through exit sensors without triggering alarms. Activators restore protection to labels when returned merchandise is restocked, ensuring ongoing deterrence and security.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Reliable Deactivation: Deactivates active AM (Acousto-Magnetic) EAS labels up to 10 cm (4 in) above the pad surface, regardless of label orientation.

  • Label Detection: Capable of detecting live labels up to approximately 15 cm (6 in) above the surface to confirm whether deactivation is needed.

  • User Feedback: Built-in visual (LED) and audible (beep) indicators alert staff when a label is detected and when it is successfully deactivated.

  • Compact & Flexible Design: Available in slim pad, countertop, flush-mount, or under-counter configurations to suit retail checkout layouts.

  • Simple Installation & Power: Powered by standard 18 V DC or compatible AC/DC supplies; many models do not require external controllers.

  • High Throughput: Supports rapid deactivation (multiple labels per second) to maintain throughput at busy checkouts.

  • Activator Capability: Handheld or wand-style activators re-enable AM labels for returned items before restocking.

  • Integration & Data: Some deactivators support EAS system connectivity, allowing deactivation counts and diagnostics to be reported to loss-prevention systems.
