Description
The Newland FM80 Salmon AI (NLS-FM8080V2-E-U30) is the AI version of Newland’s FM80 fixed-mount scanner, designed to sit inside self-service kiosks, self-checkouts, ticket gates and counters. Its large scan window lets customers present barcodes casually, even very close to the glass, and still get a fast read, which keeps queues moving when users are not trained.
Newland’s AI-powered detection and UIMG decoding read damaged, distorted and reflective codes, including mobile tickets and coupons shown on phone screens.
OCR for ID and document checks
Built-in OCR extracts text from IDs and official documents, which makes the FM80 Salmon AI a strong choice for age verification at self-checkouts, border and visitor management, library self-service and postal sorting. Digimarc reading is also supported.
Built into the checkout flow
A single-loop EAS antenna next to the window deactivates security tags from major systems such as Checkpoint as items are scanned. Advanced Sense Mode detects each presented code and opens one decode session for it, preventing accidental double reads, while six status indicators show decoding, configuration, communication and fault states at a glance.
Easy to mount and integrate
Six anchor points along the front edge and a soft inlay around the window help it fit cleanly into kiosk enclosures. It connects over USB or RS-232 and is configured with EasySet or Advanced Scripting.
