Description
The Nordic ID Sampo S1, now sold under the Brady brand, is a simple but capable RAIN RFID reader and writer for desk and counter applications. Connect it to a Windows or Linux PC with one USB cable, which carries both data and power, and it is ready to read, encode and verify EPC Gen2 tags.
It completes the Sampo family on Technowave, alongside the Sampo S2 networked reader and the Sampo S0 antenna.
Long-range reading from a flat pad
The integrated 8 dBic circularly polarised antenna has an 80° beam and reads tags up to 5 m away, so one reader can cover a counter, a returns desk or a small doorway. Output power is adjustable in 1 dB steps up to 30 dBm (1 W ERP), letting you shrink the read zone for single-item encoding or widen it for bulk counts.
Fast, reliable multi-tag reads
Dense reader mode handles around 200 tags at once, which suits checking in a tote of tagged assets, verifying a carton of garments or auditing library returns. A light sensor and a tapping sensor can trigger reads, and a buzzer plus power, RF and read LEDs give feedback.
Quick to integrate
The Sampo S1 works with Windows 10, 8 and 7 and Linux, and Brady’s RFID demo app covers inventory, tag writing and locating out of the box. It runs from USB power or from the optional 110–240 V AC adapter.
