Description
The Impinj Speedway Antenna Hub turns each antenna port of a Speedway reader into eight. With four hubs on a Speedway R420, a single reader can drive up to 32 antennas, so applications that need many small read zones, such as smart shelves, file and document tracking, or interactive retail displays, no longer need a reader for every few antennas.
The hub is managed by the reader itself through the Impinj GPIO Adapter, so existing Speedway software keeps working: the reader numbers the hub ports 1 to 32 and reports which antenna saw each tag, without a new API to learn.
Lower cost per read point
Fewer readers means less hardware, fewer network drops and fewer devices to manage. One RF cable runs from each reader port to a hub, and a Cat5 control cable from the GPIO Adapter switches the eight outputs in under 200 µs.
Reliable, easy installation
Electronics sit in an enclosed housing with two mounting holes and status LEDs that confirm power and switching during commissioning. The reader also reports hub health alerts, which makes troubleshooting large installations much faster.
Planning your system
The hub works with Speedway Revolution R420 (up to 32 antennas), R220 (up to 16, firmware 7.6 or later) and R120 readers. One GPIO Adapter Kit (IPJ-A6051-000, sold separately) controls up to four hubs. For newer Impinj R700 readers, choose the Impinj R700 Antenna Hub instead.
